PATTERN MONITOR IN ROTARY PRINTING MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the patterns on both a print sample and a traveling sheet through a single measuring camera. SOLUTION: The pattern monitor in a rotary printing machine measures a pattern printed on a traveling sheet 5 through a measuring camera positioned oppositely and compares measured information with previously measured pattern information of a print sample thus monitoring the pattern printed on the sheet. A roller 10 for traveling the sheet and a print sample attaching member 23 are positioned not to interfere with each other at the traveling position of sheet facing the measuring camera 15. The measuring camera can measure the pattern on the sheet traveling through the roller or the pattern of the print sample attached onto the surface of the print sample attaching member selectively.
