PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent large load from working on a steering actuator performing automatic steering control. SOLUTION: This steering device drives a steering actuator so that an actual steering angleθmay meet a reference turning angleθref set for the traveling distance of a vehicle, and stops automatic steering control if a deviation E of the reference turning angleθref from the actual turning angleθis a prescribed value or over (step S9). By stopping the driving of the steering actuator when the vehicle speed is zero even if the deviation E is less than the prescribed value (step S8), it is possible to prevent the steering actuator from being overloaded by static steering and perform automatic steering control positively even with a small and inexpensive steering actuator with little power consumption. |
