PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent poor development of photographic materials when developing them with solid photographic chemicals. SOLUTION: A screw feeder 88 houses a first replenishment detection sensor 104 disposed in a pipe 101 near the inlet to detect replenishments 93, and a second replenishment detection sensor 106 positioned near the outlet. While the screw feeder 88 is in operation, concurrent detection of the replenishments 93 by both first and second replenishment detection sensors 104 and 106, meaning the screw feeder 88 experiences a jam at the outlet, sets an alarm sounding. In an operation of the screw feeder 88, concurrent detection of no replenishments 93 by both first and second replenishment detection sensors 104 and 106, meaning no replenishments 93 fall into the screw feeder 88 or are present in a hopper 100, triggers the alarm sounding.
