PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To illuminate a merchandise displayed on a shelf board from a front part or upper and lower front parts by constituting the shelf board by means of attaching an illumination unit by means of keeping a prescribed gap along the front surface edge of the shelf board or by facing the side of the front surface edge of a slit which is arranged in the front surface part of the shelf board. SOLUTION: The illumination unit 4 such as a fluorescent light is attached by keeping the prescribed gap along the front surface edge 2a of the shelf board 1 and an opening space S is obtained with the front surface edge 2a of the shelf board 2. Besides, a light shielding cover 5 for shielding the light of the unit 4 is arranged in a prescribed direction in the circumference of the unit it, the light 7 is emitted from the slit 6 of the light shielding cover 5 and the merchandise 3 on the shelf board 2 is radiated. Then the width and the direction of the slit 6 arranged in the light shielding cover 5 are stipulated so that, for example, the merchandise 3 on each shelf board 2 which is vertically arranged is illuminated by one illumination unit 4 from the front upper and lower directions through each opening space S.
