PURPOSE: A watching device for a corner area of an automobile is provided to prevent the minor collision in a corner area while the scene of corner area is displayed on monitor by using an optical sensor, FL CCD camera and infrared ray light. CONSTITUTION: A watching device comprises a CCD camera part(10), a monitor(20), a camera channel converting part(30) and a control part(40). In the CCD camera part, the optical sensor, infrared ray light and CCD camera are united in one body. The optical sensor offers high signal when the illumination around corner area is below reference illumination. The CCD camera part is installed in right, left corner area(FL, FR) of front bumper(14), and in right, left corner area(RL, RR) of rear bumper(15). The monitor comprises a display part which displays the scene, shot by CCD camera, and an indicating lamp which indicates where the CCD camera is installed. The camera channel converting part offers the channel converting signal, and relays the scene on monitor, and offers optical detecting signal in case of high signal, and turns on the infrared ray light in case of control signal. The control part offers a camera location signal, a camera selection signal and an infrared ray light controlling signal.
