METHOD FOR MANAGING STATES OF USER NETWORK INTERFACE/NETWORK NODE INTERFACE MODULES IN SWITCHING SYSTEM OF ASYNCHRONOUS TRANSFER MODE

PURPOSE: The method for managing the states of user network interface(UNI)/network node interface(NNI) modules in a switching system of an asynchronous transfer mode is provided to improve the performance of the switching system, by using minimum internal resources in the management of the states of various resources that is included in the switching system. CONSTITUTION: A control processor in each interface module checks the state values of the registers in the boards of the shelves which are periodically managed(S100). The interface module prepares the report of the change in the state values(S101). It is checked if the interface module is a master module(S102). The result is informed to a management program, based on a predetermined signal(S104). The management program checks if the reported signal is a normal signal(S105). The management program compares a reported error state with the error state by each module that is managed in the program itself(S107). It is tested whether a corresponding module is really under the error state, using a predetermined signal(S109). A corresponding board is changed to the error state(S110), and a warning message is generated(S111).
