PURPOSE: An image display device is provided to display an identification pattern regardless of an aspect ratio of a display screen CONSTITUTION: An interface(21) is connected with a control part(1). A CPU(22) controls and manages an image display device(2). The CPU(22) is used as a modification correction portion to identify and correct an identification pattern according to an aspect ratio of an image and a display screen. A program ROM(24) stores a display program according to a command executed by the CPU(22). A work RAM(25) memorizes screen information as an executed result of the display program. A character ROM(26) memorizes a two-dimensional image such as a background image. A VDP(27) generates an image read from the character ROM(26) according to the screen information of the work RAM(25). A video RAM(30) memorizes temporarily the image generated from the VDP(27). An LCD monitor(4) displays the image.
