PURPOSE: The apparatus for an expanded keyboard in a personal communication system(PCS) terminal is provided to enable Hangul characters to be inputted easily and quickly with a small number of keys and be portable conveniently, and to increase the practicality of the apparatus by making the expanded keyboard be used as a calculator and an electronic note as well. CONSTITUTION: A PCS wireless coupler(10) is connected to a connector(PC) of a PCS terminal(P). When the coupler(10) is detected at the connector(PC), a PCS terminal controller is switched to its partial controlling state that ignores a control signal and data signal except a PCS communication control signal of the signals from a PCS terminal keyboard(PK). The PCS terminal controller displays a mode for an expanded keyboard(30) on a liquid crystal display(PD), and then stops controlling it, and refers to the character control signal and the character code data provided from the expanded keyboard(30) via the connector(PC). The PCS terminal controller outputs the character information and the control signal to a character output device(33) in the expanded keyboard(30) via the connector(PC).
