PURPOSE: A lossless coding and decoding apparatus of digital audio data is provided to compress digital audio data according to a high compression ratio and decompress the compressed data. CONSTITUTION: A lossless coding and decoding apparatus of digital audio data comprises a polarity processing portion(10), a frame portion(12), a bit shift portion(14), a byte separation portion(16), and an entropy coding portion(18). The polarity processing portion(10) converts input digital audio data to data with one polarity. The frame portion(12) composes the converted data as a plurality of frame and obtains the digital data of the maximum size from each frame. The bit shift portion(14) shifts a valid MSB the digital data of the maximum size to a MSB of the last bit. The byte separation portion(16) separates the shifted sample data to byte units. The entropy coding portion(18) performs an entropy coding process for each separated byte.
