PURPOSE: The method for detecting a network element of generating a data communication channel(DCC) error in a transmission system is provided to make it easy to manage a network, by reporting the error to a stack of an open systems interconnection(OSI) when the error on an optical path is generated. CONSTITUTION: It is determined if the data according to a routing change has been received(200). If the routing change has occurred(202), it is determined if a transmission system as the network element has increased data(204). If the transmission system has the increased data, routing information is updated and stored in a network managing table(206). A predetermined table is compared with a changed table, and it is checked if there exists any difference between the tables(208). If the difference therebetween is detected, the changed routing information is reported(210). The information of an adjacent network is read from a memory(212), and thereby network management information is generated(214). It is checked if the network element is deleted(216). The routing information of a routing table is updated(220). The read table is compared with the routing table, and the deleted network element is identified(224).
