PURPOSE: A method for testing the setup of a multimedia call in a radio network controller(RNC) of an international mobile telecommunications(IMT) 2000, is provided to load a base station(BS) simulator and a mobile switching center(MSC) simulator in a main processor inside the RNC, without physically linking the RNC with the BS and MSC. CONSTITUTION: A service request message generated in a base station(BS) simulator is transmitted to a radio network controller(RNC), corresponding to an instruction input including service channel information. An originating service request message is transmitted to a mobile switching center(MSC) simulator on the basis of the service request message. A virtual incoming terminal is connected in a multimedia service state through message interface among the MSC simulator, the RNC, and the BS simulator in reply to the originating service request message. A virtual originating terminal is connected in a multimedia service state on the basis of the connection notification of the virtual incoming terminal. The above steps for setting up a multimedia call are monitored.
