PURPOSE: A refrigerating cycle is provided to prevent breakage of compressor by evaporating liquid refrigerant contained within a gas-liquid separator. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerating cycle comprises a compressor(51) for compressing a refrigerant into a high temperature high pressure gaseous refrigerant, a condenser(52) for discharging the heat of the refrigerant radiated from the compressor so as to turn the refrigerant into a liquid refrigerant, an expansion device(53) for producing two-phase refrigerant of gas-liquid mixture, an evaporator(54) for cooling an ambient air, a gas-liquid separator(55) installed between the evaporator and the compressor and which prevents the liquid refrigerant output from the evaporator from flowing into the compressor, a by-pass pipe(60) branched at an outlet of the evaporator and connected to a discharge side of the compressor, a solenoid valve(61) installed at the by-pass pipe and which controls the flow of refrigerant, a liquid refrigerant sensor(59) installed to the gas-liquid separator and which senses the amount of liquid refrigerant, a control unit(63) for controlling the solenoid valve in accordance with the signal output from the liquid refrigerant sensor, and a capillary(62) installed to the by-pass pipe and which performs pressure-reducing expansion to the liquid refrigerant.
