Novel supports for immunoassay which are usable regardless of the glass fibe r composition and can establish an improved assay sensitivity compared with a case wherein a publicly known immunoassay support comprising glass fiber is employed. The above supports comprise, at least on the surface thereof, silicon compounds represented by general formula (I) or (II): wherein R1 to R4, X and Y independently represent each hydrogen or an optionally substitut ed organic group; a is an integer of 0 to 5,000; and b is an integer of 3 to 20 .
