The invention relates to a method for mounting the base of an electric lamp which comprises a lamp base having at least one thermoplastic base part (21) . The invention especially relates to a method for mounting the base of a compact fluorescent lamp without using cements. According to the invention, the lamp tube (1) is fused together with the thermoplastic base part (21) by heating sections (101, 102) of the lamp tube (1) above the softening point a nd preferably above the melting point of the thermoplastic and by inserting the m into narrowed openings (210) of the thermoplastic base part (21). The heated lamp tube sections (101, 102) soften or melt and the plastic material displaces in the area of the narrowed openings (210). After permitting the melted plastic to solidify, the lamp tube (1) is embedded with positive fit in the solidified plastic.
