The cutting device cuts strips of paper or foil. It is fitted at a right angle to the web (3) of material. It has a curved knife blade (5), bridging the web an returning by a spring (10) to its initial position after the working stroke. The long edges (7, 8), which are straight in the plan view, are made in the form of cutting edges.
