A roll stand for wire rod and steel rod rolling mill which is provided for the rolling of various sizes of wire rods and steel rods with fewer sets of housing blocks to be prepared, maintained easily, and has a feature in a housing, characterized in that the housing is divided into two parts, a roll block and a drive block, on a plane including a position where a drive gear is meshed with a driven gear or any position near that position, whereby the housing production cost can be reduced and a roll change can also be performed efficiently by reducing the number of sets of the housing blocks to be prepared.
