<p>The invention relates to a data carrier suitable for data transfer with an external terminal (9).In order to accelerate data transfer, said carrier has an input/output buffer memory (20) that can be directly accessed by the data transmission device (3). Said data transmission device (3) reads the data blocks (10) to be sent or stores the data blocks received in the above-mentioned memory. The carrier also comprises at least one transmission buffer memory (10) for providing or receiving at least one data block to be transmitted or received. In order to increase data throughput in the data carrier when the latter has a slow memory (4) in terms of write accesses and a second memory (5), a write cache memory area is set up in the second faster memory, in which the data elements to be written in the slower memory (4) are initially gathered. The content of the slow memory (4) is updated in accordance with the content of the write cache memory area in one single write access in response to a control command.</p> |
