Acrylic acid derivatives represented by general formula (1); plant disease controllers containing the same as the active ingredient; and a method for controlling plant diseases with the derivatives, wherein W is oxygen or CH2; X is CR<4> or nitrogen; Y is CR<5> or nitrogen; R<1>, R<2> and R<3> are each independently hydrogen, halogeno, cyano, nitro, amino, hydroxyl, optionally substituted C1-C10 alkyl, or the like; and R<4>, R<5>, R<6>, R<7> and R<8> are each independently hydrogen, halogeno, C1-C4 alkyl, or the like.
