摘要 <p>A lock mechanism for locking and unlocking a first rotating body and a second rotating body of a valve timing adjusting device which adjusts the opening and closing timing of a valve of an engine according to the operating conditions of the engine, wherein a radial groove (32) extending in the radial direction of the rotating body is provided in either of the first and second rotating bodies (21 and 24), a lock member (35) is close-fitted slidably to the radial groove (32) for aligning, the lock member (35) is urged in the direction of the center of the rotating body by an urging means (36), and a force is applied from the side opposite to its urging direction to the lock member (35), whereby the lock member (35) is allowed to be assembled in either of the first and second rotating bodies (21 and 24) at the axial end face of a part other than a shoe (23a) or a vane (24a), all peripheral lengths of each shoe (23a) or each vane (24a) can be adjusted generally to the same length, the adjusting angle area of the valve timing adjusting device can be increased, and the amount of unbalance of the rotating bodies can be reduced remarkably.</p>
