An anti-theft device for items having tubular or otherwise substantially cylindrical portions having a strap which is adapted to close irreversibly in a noose-like fashion on an application portion of the item to be protected against theft, the strap having a seat for accomodating an electronic signaling component which can be excited by the presence of electromagnetic fields.
