PURPOSE: A method for measuring residual capacity of battery in electric vehicle is provided to reduce a residual capacity error due to the self discharge by the battery impedance by compensating the battery residual capacity. CONSTITUTION: In step S1, a battery controller detects a discharge current. In step S2, the detected current is determined whether it is one-third of available battery capacity. In step S3, the available battery capacity is measured by using Peukert's equation. In step S4, a used battery capacity is measured by integrating time respect to the detected current. In step S5, at this time a battery residual capacity is measured by using the battery residual capacity measured in step S4. In step S6, a display indicates the battery residual capacity.
