The present invention is directed to an apparatus (10) and method for facilitating the purchase of an article of wear (27). The method uses a fit system (12) to simulate how the article of wear (27) will fit on a body (29) of a customer (20). Uniquely, the method includes generating one or more visual indicators (704) of how the article of wear (27) will fit on the customer (20). With this information, the customer (20) is better able to determine whether or not to purchase the article of wear (27) and/or what size of the article of wear is appropriate for the customer (20). Preferably, the fit system (12) is also used to provide a visual article image (705) of the article of wear on a visual model body image (707) of a portion of a model body. Further, the visual indicators (704) are positioned near or overlaid upon article image (705). Additionally, the body date (25) of the customer (20) can be used to generate a customer body image (500) of the customer (20) that approximates the customer body (29) of the customer (20).
