The CD changer is for connection to a vehicle communications system and has a changer unit for accommodating at least two CDs. It has a rectangular housing (1) with a removable control part connected to the housing via an electrical interface and a mechanical interface. The removable control part has at least one control element (4,5), at least one button (7,8,10,11) and at least one display (9), whereby the contacted control part is removable by using an unlocking button (12) and control commands entered via the control part can be transferred to a microcomputer in the CD changer. The CD changer has a transmitter and receiver unit and the control part likewise has a transmitter and receiver unit supplied by an accumulator. In the removed state the control unit transmits commands to the changer via its transmitter and receiver unit so that is can act as a remote controller.
