<p>An automotive heating and cooling system containing thermoelectric couples which function as heat pumps (10) and are electrically connected to the automobile's electrical system (46) utilizes the thermoelectric couples in an array containing from 145 to 284 thermoelectric couples. In another embodiment of the present invention, the thermoelectric couples are provided in an array of from 413 to 826 thermoelectric couples. The thermoelectric array is operated in a range of from 40 to 80 % of the maximum current value to optimize its coefficient of performance.</p> |
