PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting an air amount is provided to enhance a control of an air fuel ratio by sensing a variation of the air amount introducing to an air flower using a variable resistor and by outputting a precise detecting value. CONSTITUTION: An air amount detecting apparatus comprises an air flower(60), an air curtain(70), a return spring(40), a damper(50), a variable resistor(10), a pole(30), a filter(20) and an amplifier(80). The air flower(60) introduces air from an exterior and provides the air to an engine. The air curtain is placed at an inside of the air flower and is pushed by the introducing air amount. The return spring(40) provides a restoring force to the air curtain. The damper(50) relaxes a rapid operation of the air curtain by the return spring and the introducing air. The variable resistor has each different resistance value according to each position. The pole(30) is fixed and connected to the air curtain, and one end of the pole is connected to the variable resistor. The pole(30) outputs the resistance value with regard to the air amount according to a movement of the air curtain. The filter removes a noise component contained to the resistance value detected from the pole. The amplifier amplifies information with regard to the air amount by the resistance detected from the pole to recognize at an engine control device.
