The at least one seedling (7) is planted in a ball consisting of a nutrient (2) wrapped in sheet (6) wrapping (5) made of biodegradable material. The nutrient may be pressed into a round ball, or be loose. The ball has at least one flat end side (3,4). The ball has extra wrapping in the form of netting (13) which, together with the sheet, is made of tear-resistant material resistant to ultra-violet light. The partly perforated (8) wrapping has a hole (9) near which is a recess (10), in one of the end sides, for the plant.
