The invention relates to an internal combustion engine that is configured as a turbo-engine and that has a higher efficiency vis-à-vis conventional internal combustion engines. The inventive engine is provided with at least two screw spindles (1, 2) that intermesh in a comb-like manner and that, together with a stator, define conveyor chambers (7) that extend across a respective threaded section (6) and that are substantially closed. When the screw spindles (1, 2) are rotated, said conveyor chambers are displaced in the axial direction of conveyance (8) from an up-stream compressor (19), which is connected to an air intake fitting, to an expansion stage (16) that runs on the same screw spindle (1, 2) as the compressor, represents the prime mover and opens into an exhaust (15). Along said path of displacement, said conveyor chambers pass first a fuel injection device (11) and then an ignition device (12). |
