Compounds represented by general formula (I) or salts thereof, useful as water-soluble, low-molecular ribonucleotide reductase inhibitors: wherein R<1> is -R<2>-X<1>-R<3>- [wherein R<2> and R<3> are each independently a di-, tri- or tetra-valent group; and X<1> is -CH2-, -O-, or -N(R<4>)- (wherein R<4> is a mono- or di-valent group), or alternatively two or three members selected from the group consisting of R<2>, R<3> and R<4> may be united to form a ring structure]; and Ar<1> is an aryl group bearing one to three hydroxyl groups on the ring, or the like, with the proviso that the groups defined as to Ar<1> may each bear one or more additional substituents on the ring. |
