The television broadcast method includes reception of the audio or video data from a conventional broadcast, such as an FM radio link or a cable or satellite link by means of a unidirectional channel. The user's request for a specific broadcast is transmitted by a bi-directional link such as an Internet connection. The method for acquiring an audio, video or text message sequence from a remote site includes receiving the sequence and digital data identifying the broadcast sequence. The sequence is then presented to the user through a local user device such as a television or radio. The user device is used to produce a acquisition request by selectively activating a pushbutton control. The corresponding identification data is transmitted from the user device to the remote location, and the corresponding message sequence is returned to the user from the remote location. The transmission of message sequences is uni-directional and may use a conventional broadcast channel such as FM radio, satellite transmission or cable transmission. The request and remote loading process is inevitably bi-directional and may use a packet system on the Internet. Such a connection may use a modem link, or an ADSL link. |
