The invention relates to a new system for the treatment, storage and transportation of liquefied natural gas at considerably higher pressure and temperatures. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is stored in a container (32) under pressure of about 1035 to about 7590 kPa (1100 psia) and temperature range from about -123 to about -62 deg, C. The container (32) is made of super strong low alloyed steel containing no less than 9 wt. % nickel which has tensility strength greater than 830 MPa (120 ksi) and DBTT lower than about -73 deg.C. The invention also relates to a system for the treatment and transportation of LNG to the place of its consumption. 22 claims, 5 figures
