The invention relates to an apparatus monitoring the asynchronous motors and detecting faults therein, comprising an adaptation and input block (A) which takes over the input signals proportional to the input voltage (U) and the current (I) absorbed from the monitored motor and, after having performed the adaptation, transfers the same to a signal processing block (B), followed by a digital computation block (D) provided with a display (E) and a network interface (F), a block selecting the fault component (C) being parallely connected with the signal processing block (B), the inputs of the two blocks (B, C) being parallelly connected to the outputs of the adaptation block (A), the block selecting the fault component (C) containing a narrow wave-band filter which separates the fault component from the fault frequency component and supplies it to the computation block (D) which computes the fault current.
