The plastic closure has a cap (11) applicable to a container and having an outlet aperture (19). An outlet spout (13) has an inlet (35) and an outlet (37) and is pivotably located over the outlet aperture of the cap. The outlet spout in the closed position closes the outlet aperture of the cap and in the opening position communicates with the outlet aperture of the cap, allowing the contents of the container to emerge through the spout. A guarantee band (15) is provided between the outlet of the outlet spout and the cap. In the closed position the outlet spout is lowered into the cap, so that the upper wall (23) of the outlet spout is aligned with the upper wall (25) of the cap.
