The invention relates to a static exciter for synchronous motors, meant to sypply manually adjustable direct current for the excitation of the synchronous motors. The static exciter for the synchronous motors using a three-phase rectifier (5) actuated by a circuit for the in-phase control of the thyristors (1), is characterized in that it comprises the thyristor control circuit (1) which receives pulses from a circuit for the formation of the synchronizing voltage (2) and forms an alternating rectangular wave signal and allows the thyristors to be simultaneously controlled on each positive semi-alternation and control voltage by means of a current regulator (4), which is controlled in its turn by a voltage transducer (3) which converts the supply voltage variations into a signal applied to the regulator (4), and stabilizes the synchronous motor excitation current to the value adjusted manually by means of a potentiometer ( r 23), the circuits ( 1 and 4) being supplied by an externally stabilized source .
