The invention relates to a process for quick clarification of waste water from carbon preparations by means of coagulation-flocculation with a bicomponent solution of polyelectrolyte and calcium salt in order to protect the environment, the dosage of the reacting substances depending on the content of waste water suspensions, as well as on the ratio between the clay and carbon fractions forming the waste suspensions. According to the invention, waste water having a variable content of suspensions of 20 ... 80 g/ l of which 50 ...70 % is clay, and a pH = 7.5 to 8.5 when they are treated in discharge conditions by getting them in contact, in high turbulent condition, with a bicomponent treating solution consisting of an aqueous solution of 0.1 % anionic medium polyelectrolyte of the type polyacrylamide / acrylate in 50 g/l calcium chloride, corresponding to a polyelectrolyte dosage of 3 ...9 mg / l, thereby obtaining after a settling time of 10 ...15 min. a clear supernatant with a content of suspension of 100 mg / l and a decreased volume of mud of 15 ...25 % of the treated water volume. The application of the quick clarification process consisting in the coagulation-flocculation with an anionic medium polyelectrolyte of the polyacrylamide / acrylate type, having a low gram-molecular weight, in calcium chloride solution, ensures the purification of this water, from the point of view of the suspension content, at an improved settling rate, simplifying the way of preparing the treating solution in a significant manner.
