The invention relates to a sodium soap having low density and high washing power and to a process and to an installation for preparing said soap. The claimed sodium soap comprises 58% hog's lard, 11.5 % water, 4.2% anhydrous sodium hydroxide, 21.3 % anhydrous sodium carbonate, 3 % sodium chloride and 2 % sodium hypochlorite, the percentage being expressed by weight. The claimed process consists in preparing caustic lye, mixing and homogenizing said lye, mixing the caustic lye with the heated lard, incorporating the other ingredient such as preservative, colouring agent, vegetable oil, ether oil, vegetable essence. According to the invention, the installation for applying said process comprises tanks for melting and separating fats from impurities (1,5), homogenization and saponification devices, moulding boxes, crushing and chipping machines and graining mills.
