An actuating device for a hand-brake and an automatic transmission, or a transmission which can be actuated with power assistance, comprises a pivotably mounted hand-brake lever 10 upon which is mounted a gear selection handle 12, thus saving space and enabling ergonomic positioning of the device within a vehicle. Gear selection can be made by rotating the handle 12 about its longitudinal axis 14 to a position in which a spring-loaded ball 34 engages in a groove 35. An electronically actuable lock 20 on the handle 12 may be used to prevent gear selection. A light 30 may be integrated in the handle 12 or in a hand-brake release button 18 to illuminate a gear display 42. |
