[Class 135] The valve member 1 of a stop valve is provided with a short cylindrical extension 2 guided within the bore of the valve seat and presenting a convex face to the upstream fluid. The valve seat 3 has a flange 10 which embraces the periphery of a seat supporting part 11 of the casing and is secured in position by bolts 12 which allow the seat to expand radially independently of the casing.
