Control of the rotary speed of a motor driven winding reel for material

Material is wound onto a reel (2) at a controlled linear rate with the speed of the drum changing as the diameter increases. The material is fed over a pair of small rollers (4) with a tensioned dance roller (5) in between. As the wound diameter changes the position of the dance roller is measured (M) and used to control the speed of the winding reel.
