Aqueous preparation for treating infection or ulceration, e.g. gastric infections, containing polyvinyl alcohol and iodine preparation, is well tolerated even on internal administration

A new preparation (I) (designated 'Mikrozid') for the etiological treatment of infection and ulceration processes, comprises (per liter) 11-12 g of polyvinyl alcohol, 120-140 ml of aqueous iodine preparation solution and the remainder distilled water as solvent. An Independent claim is included for the preparation of (I) by dissolving the polyvinyl alcohol in distilled water, heating at 95-100 deg C for 1.5-3.0 hours to give a clear solution, cooling to room temperature and adding the iodine preparation and distilled water up to 1 liter.
