The invention concerns a device wherein the downloading is carried out by controlled transfer of a set of data to be downloaded, stored (52), via an input/output interface (51) to an onboard flight management unit (10), after a downloading mode has been activated therein. The invention is characterised in that the input/output interface (51) is arranged to be connected on a fast link (30), designed for exchanges between the flight management unit (10) and another similar flight management unit. The remote configuration means (53) comprise an initiating module, capable of simulating the presence of another flight management unit on the fast link, so as to open an operational link with the flight management unit to be downloaded; then, after the latter's downloading means have been activated, in launching the operation of the downloading module.
