The method involves determining relevant vehicle parameters such as vehicle height, load height, load wt., vehicle and load widths, vehicle length. etc., pref. before starting the journey and storing them in a limit value memory or warning device. The vehicle position is repeatedly compared with positions of structures through which the vehicle is to pass. When the vehicle reaches a suitable minimum distance from a structure a signal is output if the vehicle data exceed maximum data for the structure stored in another memory. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for collision prevention.
