<p>Described are preferred encapsulant compositions, devices and methods for treating liquid spills. Preferred compositions include a particulate superabsorbent polymer along with an agent for forming an interpenetrating polymer network upon contacting the aqueous spill to bond particles of the superabsorbent polymer together to form a unitary, removable mass. Preferred compositions also include a blend of at least two superabsorbent polymers, wherein one of the superabsorbent polymers absorbs water significantly faster than another. Devices for spray application of such encapsulant compositions include a canister adapted for forcibly spraying a particulate composition, and a powdered encapsulant composition as described contained in the canister. Methods for treating spills of liquids involve the application of encapsulant compositions as described.</p> |
