The invention relates to a piezoelectric actuator that comprises at least one piezoelectric element (2; 21; 31; 41, 42) that impinges an actuator with a tensile or pressure force. The piezoelectric actuator is further provided with stabilization elements (9; 22) that are mounted in parallel to the piezoelectric element (2; 21; 31; 41, 42) with a flexible intermediate layer (11) interposed between the elements. The piezoelectric element (2; 21; 31; 41, 42) and the stabilization elements (9; 22) have a larger length in their effective direction (z axis) compared to their width that runs transversal to the effective direction (x, y direction).
