SURGICAL CLAMP PADS WITH ELASTOMER IMPREGNATED MESH

Replaceable pads (30) are provided for jaw-type (22) surgical clamps, clips and other occluding devices. The pads (30) include elastomer impregnated mesh (36) embedded in and extending from an elastomeric cushion (32). When engaged with a vessel (V), the mesh (36) partially penetrates the adventitial layers of the vessel, securing outer adventitial layers against inner vessel layers to resist relative movement of the layers, thereby minimizing slippage of the device along the clamped vessel. The embedded mesh (36) also functions to stabilize the cushion (32), especially against lateral movement.
