The plates are connected by drawing sections together in a deep drawn opening (9) of the matrix (8)and squashing them out radially. The work surface (4,5,6) of the ram (1) is wedge-shaped so that the material is displaced more in a first cross direction than in a second at right angles thereto with soft transitions between the two directions. The wall parts of the second additional plate sections are thinned out in the first direction area to form a tear-off separation without weakening the first plate section. The plate sections are partially separated from each other by the deep drawn edges but in another position turned by 90 degrees they are still connected to the plates.
