<p>Privately addressed computer devices in a private computer network are enabled to communicate over the Internet without acquiring public IP addresses. A computer system or network configuration includes a private computer network having one or more computer devices, each associated with a private IP address, and a tunnel server with an access port coupled to receive tunnel requests from the one or more computer devices and a resource port coupled to a service provider of the Internet. The tunnel server is operative to open a tunnel through the private computer network between the computer device and the tunnel server to support communication by the computer device over the Internet. In one particular application, the private computer network includes a fixed wireless system providing wireless communications between the computer devices and the tunnel server.</p> |
