The device has a strap-down turn rate sensor (10) with a single input axis, position sensors, pref. acceleration sensors (14), for determining the position angle of the strap-down rate sensor and its change with time, a magnetic compass (38) and a signal processing arrangement (34) for computing the course angle to which the signal from the strap-down sensor, magnetic compass and acceleration sensors are fed.
