An ultrasound probe (10) comprises a hand holdable body (12) with ultrasonic transducers (26, 28) in its head (14), and an electronic circuit which generates an ultrasound signal (40) for transmission into the body of a patient. The reflected ultrasound signal is processed to generate audio band in-phase and quadrature outputs, which are fed to an external signal processing system, typically comprising a conventional PC (22) running suitable software, which generates a characteristic wave form of pulsative blood flow in the body of the subject. |
