<p>The present invention relates to matrices, films, gels and hydrogels which include hyaluronic acid (HA) which is derivatized with a dihydrazide. This derivatized HA is crosslinked to a nucleic acid. These compositions are useful as gene therapy agents. Application of the compositions of the invention to a subject leads to the release of the derivatized HA-bound nucleic acids and transfer of those nucleic acids into the cells of the subject. These compositions are useful in a wide array of therapeutic applications; they are particularly useful in wound healing enhancement applications.</p> |
