Film for use in a paint finish has specific glass transition, environmental and use temperatures and specific tan delta values. Film has a Tg1 of maximum loss factor tan delta between -20 and 70 deg C, a tan delta at environmental temperature (Te) of above 0.1, a further Tg of maximum tan delta above the use temperature (Tu), where Te is at most Tu, preferably less than Tu, and tan delta at Te after heating and/or actinic irradiation is below 0.1, where tan delta is measured at a film thickness of 40+/-10 mu . Independent claims are included for the preparation of a paint finish by applying the above film at Tu and heating and/or actinically irradiating and also for automobile bodies, furniture, building parts, containers, packaging and articles for daily use with at least one coating obtained from the above film.
